Obituary for Steven W. Fleming--

Steven W. Fleming age 58 of Nashua, Iowa, died Monday, February 10, 2014, at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2014, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Nashua with Msgr. John Hemann celebrating the mass. The pall will be placed on the casket by the family.

Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Nashua with Roger Fleming, Jennifer Fleming, James Fleming, David Fleming, Dennis McLane, Sara Groomes, Jeff Hobert and Josh Hobert serving as pallbearers.

Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014, at the Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Steven Wayne Fleming was born December 17, 1955, in rural Oelwein, Iowa the son of Wayne and Lucille (Baines) Fleming-Fox. He attended school at Wapsie Valley, and graduated from Oelwein High School in 1974. While in high school, he became an apprentice for Moore’s Construction. He then went to work for Cudahy (Iowa Ham) for over 10 years. Steve then worked on a various bridge/construction crews traveling to new destinations. He did this for 10 years. Steve was introduced to Pamela Barker and the couple was married in May of 1974. To this union one daughter, Becky, was born. The couple later divorced.

Steve went back to school and received a degree in Computer-Aided Design “CAD”, from Southeast Iowa Community College. After the completion of his degree, he accepted a job with Featherlite Trailers, designing trailers for the company. He worked for Featherlite for 13 years. Steve met Debbie Schmidt and the couple was married October 25, 2002, at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma, Iowa. The couple later moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa where Steve began working for Eagle Manufacturing designing corn stoves. Steve and Deb moved to Nashua in 2010.

Steve enjoyed horses, watching westerns, and especially Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Steve enjoyed being a judge at local rodeos in the area. He was an avid enthusiast and collector of Harley’s. He had a custom built trike that he and Debbie would take on long trips and many weekend rides together. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Steve also found great comfort and strength in his faith.

Left to cherish Steve’s memory are his wife, Debbie Fleming of Nashua, Iowa; three daughters, Becky (Dennis) McLane of Oelwein, Iowa, Misty (Jeff) Hobert of Nashua, Iowa and Vonda (Tyrone) Jacoby of Carthage, Illinois; two sons, Evan (Laura) Schmidt of Elma, Iowa, and Noel Schmidt of Fredericksburg, Virginia; fifteen grandchildren; along with several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rita Barker.
