Robert Lee Graham was born December 18, 1929, on the family farm in rural Butler County, Iowa, near Bristow. He was the son of John and Minnie (Diekman) Graham. Robert received his education in rural country school. As a young man, Robert worked several jobs and also spent many years working at the Standard Station in Nashua.
