Obituary for Francis "Jake" Jacobs--

Francis “Jake” Jacobs age 63 of Fredericksburg died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph Center in New Hampton with Msgr. Carl Schmitt celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg with military honors by the Tripoli V.F.W. Post. Pallbearers are Butch Britt, Brian Jacobs, Mitchell Goodrich, Randy Taylor, Denny Ungs and Jim Lienau.

Friends may greet the family 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at the Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass at the church on Monday.

Francis Allen “Jake” Jacobs was born February 18, 1949, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of John and Johanna (Hoffman) Jacobs. He received his education in St. Mary’s School in North Washington. In January of 1967 he moved to Waterloo to received training as a plumber and then graduated from East High School in Waterloo. On June 14, 1969, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia, he married Josie Lienau of Fredericksburg. To this union a daughter and son were born. He was inducted into the United States Army on July 2, 1969, serving in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on April 20, 1971.

Jake worked for a few plumbing businesses in Waterloo and also lived in Readlyn where he worked for Dick’s Petroleum out of Tripoli. He retired in 2009 after many years in the plumbing business with Young Plumbing and Heating, Waterloo. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and NASCAR.

Survivors include his wife, Josie of Fredericksburg; one daughter, Tina (Butch) Britt of New Hampton; one son, Travis Jacobs of Mason City; two grandsons, Blake Britt of New Hampton, Mitchell Goodrich of Mason City; one granddaughter, Makella Jacobs of Mason City; three sisters, Rita (Leo) Rasing of New Hampton, JoAnn Meihost of Readlyn, Mary Meihost of Waverly; one brother, John (Bev) Jacobs of Ionia; two sisters-in-law, Joan Kruger of Ionia, Janice Lienau of Fredericksburg; one brother-in-law, Jim (Abby) Lienau of Lawler; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Helen Chambers; three brothers, Leo Jacobs, Linus Jacobs, Melvin Jacobs; five brothers-in-law, Ray Meihost, Paul Meihost, Dean Chambers, Jerry Lienau, Kent Kruger.
