Obituary for Arthur Oudekerk--
April 1, 1942 - October 27, 2012
Arthur Oudekerk age 70 of Nashua, Iowa died Saturday morning, October 27, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.
Arthur’s body was donated to the University Of Iowa Hospitals for medical research. Formal services will be held on a later date.
Arthur George Oudekerk was born April 1, 1942, in Charles City, Iowa, the only son of Henrietta Oudekerk. Arthur attended school in Nashua. After attending Nashua schools he enlisted in the United States Navy. Arthur actively served on the U.S.S. Bigelow from 1959 – 1962. After returning from his time of service Arthur spent a couple of years traveling the U.S. doing odd jobs until returning to his native Nashua.
Shortly thereafter, Arthur met his wife to be, Arlene Sparks on a blind date. They were married February 21, 1969, at the Little Brown Church. The couple was blessed with two children. After their marriage Art was hired by John Deere, working in the foundry for nine years.
Art loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, going on picnics, bonfires, and camping.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Arlene; one son, Arthur “Art” Jr. (Terri) Oudekerk; one daughter, Tami Oudekerk all from Nashua; one grand-daughter, Brandy Sorenson; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
