Obituary for Herbert M. Remley--

Herbert M. Remley age 93 of Nashua died Monday, November 12, 2012, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2012, at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Nashua with Rev. Shawn Geer, First Baptist Church, Plainfield, officiating. Interment will be in the Horton Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Nashua V.F.W. Post.

Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Herbert Minor Remley was born June 27, 1919, in rural Bremer County, Iowa, the son of Wilbert Zell and Jessie (Mishler) Remley. He was a 1937 graduate of the Ionia High School. He was inducted into the United States Army on April 7, 1942, having served during World War II as an aircraft mechanic. He served in Saipan and Okinawa. He was honorably discharged on January 26, 1946. Following his military service, he farmed for over 60 years in the Nashua area. He was a member of the Nashua V.F.W.

Survivors include one brother, Erwin “Pete” Remley of Nashua; two nieces, Sandra Niemeyer of Greer, SC, Marvelyn (Carl) Meyer Duncan, SC; two grand-nieces, Rebecca (Keith) Jones of Flat Rock, NC, Rachel Herold of Duncan, SC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wilbert Remley; one sister, Elva Remley.
