Joseph L. Kellogg, age 34, of Decorah, Iowa formerly of Ionia, Iowa passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, backpacking, camping, canoeing, and traveling. He was affiliated with various arborist organizations.

Joe is survived by his parents, Nancy Flaskerud of Ridgeway, Iowa, Larry and Diane Kellogg of Ionia; his wife Rachel, and daughter Serina Jo, both of Decorah; his grandmothers, Nora Johnson-Vobr of Cresco and Agatha Hoffman of Ionia; his sisters, Michele (Doug) Munn of Clear Lake, Iowa, Jackie (Ken) Zeien of Waverly, Iowa, Lisa Kellogg of Ionia, Nita Flaskerud of Rochester, Minnesota, Kaya Flaskerud of Waukon, Iowa, and Jenna Flaskerud of Des Moines, Iowa; his brother; Brian (Shana) Kellogg of Ionia; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Robert and JoAnn Giese of Ogema, WI; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dale and Wilma Kellogg; and his grandfathers, Lelan Johnson, and Jack Hoffman.

Joseph Lawrence Kellogg was born on January 20, 1976 to Larry and Nancy (Johnson) Kellogg in New Hampton, Iowa. Joe graduated from New Hampton High School in 1994. He then received his Associates Degree in Biology from North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. Joe was employed at Featherlite in Cresco, Iowa, Winnebago Industries in Charles City, Iowa, and, CamCar in Decorah where he was presently employed. Joe was currently attending classes at North Iowa Community College in Calmar, where he was studying Arboriculture. On August 18, 2007, Joe was united in marriage to his loving wife Rachel Giese at Mondeaux Dam Lodge, Wisconsin.

Memorials may be directed to Larry and Diane Kellogg.

Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery in Ionia with Jereb Kellogg, Jason Bucknell, Dan Edson, Eric Wold, Mark Hagen, and Nathan Kellogg serving as casket bearers.

Visitation will be 3:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, with a scriptural wake service at 5:00 PM at Ionia Funeral Home in Ionia, Iowa. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

A Service of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia, Iowa with Fr. Mark Osterhaus celebrating.
