Luella S. Lentz, age 95, of New Hampton, IA, died on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.

Luella Susan Lentz was born March 31, 1915 at North Washington, Iowa, the daughter of the late Mike and Elizabeth Ungs. She attended St. Marys Catholic School at North Washington. Upon graduation Luella attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls, Iowa. On December 27, 1945,

Luella was united in marriage to Vincent A. Lentz at St. Marys Church at New Hampton, where the couple made their home. She was a retired Chickasaw County Auditor after 20 years of service in that capacity. Luella also served as Deputy County Recorder, taught rural schools, and a switch-board operator as well as a cashier at the former Iowa State Telephone Company. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Luella was an avid card player, oil painter, quilter and gardener. She volunteered in local organizations, and was active in her church.

Survived by her children, Linda (Dan) Mack of Carroll, Iowa, Bob (Joan) Lentz of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Jim (Linda) Lentz of Green Valley, Arizona, Mike (Lorena) Lentz of El Paso, Texas, and Steve (Celia) Lentz of Estero, Florida; her grandchildren, Brent, Cori, and Bryan Mack, Bryan, Alison, Emily, Kristi, and Michael Lentz; one sister, Edna Long of New Hampton; one sister-in-law, Imelda Ungs of New Hampton; one brother-in-law, Dale (Mona) Gates of New Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vincent Lenz; her brothers, Clarence, Edward, Francis, Reynold, and Clem; and her sisters, Elaine Gates, and Mildred Nosbisch.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery at New Hampton with her grandchildren, Brent, Cori, and Bryan Mack, and Bryan, Alison, Emily, Kristi, and Michael Lentz serving as casket bearers.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 21, 2010 from 3-7pm at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton with a 4:00 pm rosary and a 4:30 pm scriptural wake service. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am on Monday, November 22, 2010 at Holy Family Parish-St. Marys Center in New Hampton with Father Mark Osterhaus celebrating.
