Rita Margaret Throndson, age 87, of New Hampton, IA died Sunday September 5, 2010, at New Hampton Care Center
Rita Margaret Weigel was born on November 18, 1922 to Michael and Mary (Fitzgerald) Weigel at Jerico, Iowa. Rita attended country school near Jerico. She worked for Harold Weigel as a housekeeper before uniting in marriage to Clarence Throndson on August 9, 1943 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Jerico. The couple resided in the Lawler area until moving to New Hampton.
Rita enjoyed baking and cooking, playing cards, garage saling, and visiting with friends and family.She was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Josephs Center, and Holy Family Rosary Society.
Rita is survived by her loving husband, Clarence of New Hampton; son, Joseph (Lea) Throndson of New Hampton; two sisters, Genevieve Steege of Fredericksburg, Iowa, and Eileen Anderson of Burbank, California; one son-in-law, Dennis Teske of Rochester, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Missy (Ralph) Riecks, Terri Throndson, Aaron Teske, Troy Teske, Jeni (Adam) Holmvig; 12 great-grandchildren, Trevor Reicks, Trenton Reicks, Elliot Reicks, Chloe Reicks, Shelby Reicks, Elijah Reicks, Alex Burke, Logan Burke, Tyler Carlson, Danika Teske, Hailey Teske, Ella Holmvig; and one great-great grandson, Tucker Reicks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Weigel; one daughter, Sharon Teske; brothers, Harold, Joseph, and Gerald Weigel; and one sister, Alvetta Laures.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton with Aaron Teske, Troy Teske, Adam Holmvig, Trevor Reicks, Trenton Reicks, and Elliot Reicks serving as casket bearers.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, with a rosary at 4:30 pm and a scripture service at 6:00 pm at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Holy Family Parish-St. Josephs Center in New Hampton, IA with Fr. Mark Osterhaus celebrating.
