Obituary for Frances "Francie" Chapman

Frances "Francie" Ann Chapman, age 82 of New Hampton, Iowa died Thursday morning, August 15, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday August 20, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Washington with Rev. Mark Osterhaus officiating. The pall will be placed by Francie's brothers and sisters. Ann Bennett will be the organist accompanying the Immaculate Conception Men's Choir. Lector for the service will be Gladys Christoph. Presenting the offertory gifts will be her four sisters.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Washington with Tammy Joebgen, Dawn Anderson, Cody Dietrich, Tyler Dietrich, Dave Kerkove and David Tilkes as pallbearers.

Friends may greet the family 4 - 7 p.m. Monday August 19, 2013, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton with a 5:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. 641-394-4334

Francie was born November 9, 1930, on her family's farm near North Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Wegner) Tilkes. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in North Washington.

On November 9, 1949, Francie was united in marriage to Claude Wisher at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Washington. Claude died in 1967. Francie drove school bus for many years. She also was a cashier at the Jack and Jill Grocery Store in New Hampton and later at the Deli for Liddles Super Value, New Hampton. She was an accomplished seamstress and upholsterer and ran an upholstery business out of her home.

On November 5, 1971, at the I.C. Church in North Washington, Francie was married to Jack Chapman. Francie, Jack and their daughter Linda lived in Colorado for two years before moving back to the area. Jack died in 1989. Francie continued to live in New Hampton for the remander of her life.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Dietrich and grandsons, Cody and Tyler all of Austin, MN; three brothers, Vincent Tilkes of Golden, CO, Lavern (Connie) Tilkes of New Hampton and Greg Tilkes of Faribault, MN; four sisters, Rosella (Jack) Kerkove of North Washington, Jane (Gene) Lynch of Lawler, Laurine (Joe) Whalen of New Hampton and Darlene Franzen of New Hampton; several neices and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Claude and Jack; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Tilkes and Elaine Tilkes; one brother-in-law, Leo Franzen.
