Obituary for Raymond Anderson

Raymond E. Anderson, age 84 of Fredericksburg, Iowa died Monday September 16, 2013 at his home.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg, with Pastor Ronnie Koch presiding. Private family interment will take place at a later date at the Orleans Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ridgeway.

Friends may greet the family 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Raymond Edward Anderson was born August 14, 1929, on the family farm near Ridgeway, Iowa, the son of Herbert and Lena Anderson. He received his education in rural country school and the Ridgeway High School. On January 25, 1951, in Cresco, he married Margaret “Peggy” Stockdale. To this union seven children were born. Together the couple farmed north of Ridgeway until 1971. Ray then drove semi for Meinerz Creamery/Beatrice Cheese in Fredericksburg until retiring in 1993. In his retired years, Ray helped with the spring and fall farm work for Gene and Rex Nolte. He will be greatly missed by his family and be remembered for his love of life and the enjoyment he received from his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; his children, Joan (Alan) Peter of Cresco, Anon (Susie) Anderson, Susan (Bob) Flansche, Mary (John) Woodring, Karen (Tom) Lienau, all of Fredericksburg, Wanda Anderson of Chandler, Arizona; fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Anderson of Des Moines; many nieces nephews and his best friend, Lady, his dog.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Alan Anderson, his brother, Gerald Anderson and two sisters, Irene Hove and Emma Anderson.
