Albert Ivan Ransom – November 24, 1886 – January 24, 1949

ALBERT RANSOM DIES AT IONIA

Albert Ransom, Ionia, about 60, passed away at his home Monday night, having been ill with heart trouble for some time.
He is a brother of Mack Ransom of Nashua

IONIA RESIDENT, 62, PASSES IN DEATH

Albert I Ransom, age 62, passed away very suddenly at his home in Ionia on Monday evening, January 24 at 5:20.

He was born at the farm home 6 miles southeast
of Ionia, the youngest child of Caleb S. and Mary E Ransom. Here he grew to manhood. In 1912 he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served his country well for three years.

On March 7, 1917, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Regina Schultz, by the Rev. E. H. Cocilman at Charles City. To this union 5 children were born; Ilda, Mrs. Virgil Zimmerman; Pauline, Mrs. Roy Moore; Wilma, Mrs. Earl Wad; and Kathryn at home.

Robert who is with the armed forces in Germany, along with their mother survive, also 5 grandchildren, Ralph Moore, Kay and Kent Zimmerman, and Jerry and Earla Wad. Also surviving are five brothers; Charley and Herman of Ionia, Oscar of Lyle, Minnesota, Hal and Mack of Nashua; one sister, Mrs. L. B. Trusty of Ionia; a step mother, Mrs. Cora Ransom; 3 half-brothers Gale and Willis of Ionia and Willard of New Hampton, and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends are left to mourn his passing.

Mr. Ransom was engaged as a livestock buyer until his health began to fail, and for the past several months was a salesman for the Oelwein Chemical Co. He was a loving husband and father and his happiest moments were when he had his children and grandchildren near him.

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church in Ionia on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. David Arnold officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Ransom’s son Robert was unable to come from Germany for his father’s services.
