On Jan. 28, 2014 the world became a lot more boring when John Kuennen passed away in San Antonio, Texas.

John Ronald Kuennen was born in New Hampton, on Apr. 15, 1964. The third of six children of Ronald and Kathryn Kuennen, John was a 1982 graduate of Turkey Valley Community School. While attending TVHS, John developed appreciations for basketball, theater, photography, interpretive dance & motorcycling. Following graduation, John completed a photography program at Hawkeye Technical School. John’s career in golf course construction took him to various parts of the United States. He eventually settled in San Antonio, TX to live near the “love of his life”, his daughter Katy Dubbels.

John worked in commercial construction in San Antonio. John was a Knight of Columbus and an active parishioner at St. Helena Church.

Funeral services were held in San Antonio on February 2 and 3, 2014.

John is survived by his daughter, Katy Dubbels; his father, Ronald Kuennen, brothers David Kuennen (Jacquie) and Patrick Kuennen (Kris) and sisters Carolyn Kuennen, Mary Kuennen and Veronica Hill (Brian).

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Kathryn Mallinger Kuennen.

John was a loving uncle to Brian, Emily, Abby, Sam, Jake, Ryan, Riley, Reagan and Ryder.
