Karen Jean Ann Bohach

Karen Bohach, 42, of Keokuk, died Monday, March 12, 2001 at 8 p.m. at Keokuk Area Hospital.

Karen Jean Ann Bohach was born Jan. 27, 1959 in New Hampton, the daughter of Rudolph and Ruth (Weldman) Bohach. She grew up in northern Iowa and graduated from Nashua High School in 1977. She attended Iowa Wesleyan College and earned her bachelor degree.

She worked as a science teach at Saint Aloysius School in Calmar from 1982-1984.

She moved to the Keokuk area and taught from 1984 to 1987 as a special education teacher for Area Education Agency #16 in Summitville School. The Summitville School became integrated into the Keokuk Community School system, where she taught as a special education teacher; and served as class sponsor and Special Olympics coach until her death.

Karen had also worked a variety of part-time jobs, including desk clerk at Econo Lodge, a salesperson at Gardner-Collier, Metabo Life and Kirlins. For years she had called and enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards with her friends.

Surviving are three brothers: Robert (Sharyn) Bohach of Mesa, Ariz.; Gary (Joyce) Bohach of Waterloo and Rodney (Sandy) Bohach of Wisc.; a sister, Sandra (Lavern) Rinken of Clarksville, Iowa; an aunt, Lucille Moudrey of Protivin and several nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Sharon, Shirley and Joseph.
