FREDERICKSBURG - Marian Lois Sowers, 84, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, July 20, at Oak Estates Assisted Living Center, Conrad.

She was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Waterloo, daughter of Clement and Beryl (Ranard) Jeffries. She married Douglas Sowers on April 18, 1943, at Finnell Church, rural Sumner.

Mrs. Sowers was a 1943 graduate of Waterloo West High School. She and her husband farmed in the Sumner and Frederika area until moving into Fredericksburg.

Survived by: her husband; three sons, Jeff (Marlys) of Milo, Ric (Marlene) of Fredericksburg and Ken (Barb) of Readlyn; five daughters, Sue (Romaine) Orth of Plainfield, Melinda (Don) Daggett of Conrad, Merijo (Dale) Boevers of Farley, Kelly (Scott) Diser of Austin, Minn., and Kristen (Mark) Christensen of Saratoga; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Janet.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, Fredericksburg. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Saturday, all at the funeral home

Marians father Clement Lewis Jr. Jeffries ; died July 19, 1945 in Waterloo, the son of Clement Lewis Sr. Jeffries and Delphine (Wilson) Jeffries. He and his parents are buried in the Osage Cemetery, Mitchell Co., Iowa.

After the death of her father, her mother Beryl Mary (Ranard) married David Leroy Longnecker on February 23, 1951 in Waterloo. Beryl was the daughter of James Otis Ranard and Mildred (Cameron) Ranard. Beryl died March 4, 1984, her SS death record has Fredericksburg, Iowa as her last residence.
