"Died at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque March 6th, 1910, Edward A. Fitzsimmons in the 44th year of his age.

Deceased was born in Clermont, Iowa, Feb. 1st, 1867, and came with his parents to Lawler when four years of age and has resided there almost his entire life.

He married Miss Kittie Burns who passed away of the dread white plague some years ago.

December 2nd, 1907, he married Miss Margaret Sweeney of this city who with his two sons survive him. Claude a son by his first wife is about 19 years of age and Edward is about fourteen months old. Two sisters survive him, Miss Ida Fitzsimmons of Marshalltown and Mrs. G.E. Usher, of Salt Lake City.

E.A. Fitzsimmons was a splendid young man, thoughtful and refined, honest and capable, had the confidence of every one with whom he was connected in business. He traveled for Belden & Evans of Minneapolis for seventeen years which speaks well for his integrity and efficiency as a business man.

The funeral was held from the church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Lawler, he having been a communicant of that church all his life. The funeral was held Tuesday at 9 a.m. services were conducted by the pastor Rev. Ryan and the interment was in the parish cemetery."

"In August 2007 Thomas Fitzsimmons found this photograph in a brooch owned by Edward's second wife, Thomas's grandmother, Margaret Sweeney. She was a New Hampton native, daughter of Mark Sweeney and Mary McGuill of New Hampton."
