HERMAN NEWMAN, BASSETT,
KILLED IN AUTO WRECK

Herman Newman, 61, of Bassett, was killed Sunday in an auto accident near Zearing, Iowa. He suffered a skull fracture, and died about six hours after the accident. The accident occurred when a tire blew out, and the car turned over three or four times.

Accompanying him were his wife, who suffered fracture of the pelvic bone and will be in the
hospital for several weeks, and their son, Bertram Newman and wife and baby. The others
were uninjured.

Mr. Newman had been a resident of Chickasaw county since 1931. Surviving are his widow,
two daughters and three sons.

Funeral services will be held at Bassett Wednesday.
