Cherished Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend, Anette Schall, 64, of Claremont, N.C., formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 27, at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley after a courageous battle with cancer.

The memorial services will be Friday, October 9, at 10:30am at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Waterloo. There will be a luncheon immediately following at the church. Anette will be joined with her parents during a private burial at the New Hampton cemetery in New Hampton.

She was born December 8, 1944, in New Hampton, the daughter of Edward Gerber and Luella Treat Gerber. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic school through eighth grade and continued on as a student at New Hampton High, graduating in 1963. On June 24, 1967 she married Gary Ritter in Waterloo and later divorced. She was married to Jerome Schall on November 29, 1997.

Anette was employed by Rath Packing Company, Waterloo Savings Bank and an entrepreneur with Fast Annie’s snow plow business. She attended the University of Northern Iowa and received her nursing degree from Hawkeye Tech in 1984. She has been a registered nurse for 25 years, working many of them in the emergency room at Covenant Medical Center of Waterloo and was currently employed in the emergency room at Catawba ValleyMedical Center in Hickory, N.C.

Anette was a wonderful mom, companion and friend. She was charismatic, humorous and enjoyed living life to the fullest. She was an avid golf and tennis player. In addition to her active lifestyle, she also enjoyed a night on the town with friends and a good game of BINGO. Anette’s family and friend’s will remember everything she contributed to their lives.

She is survived by her husband, Jerome Schall; daughters, Kristin Ritter Kratz and husband, David of Apple Valley, Minnesota and Molly Ritter DuBois and husband, Bob of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; son, Brian Ritter and wife, Holly of Waterloo; grandchildren, Matthew and Adam Kratz, McKenna and Meghan DuBois, and Layton, Benjamin and Harrison Ritter; sister, Susan Gardner of Poquoson, Virginia; stepchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins
