Mrs. William Dowd Rites

Mrs. William Dowd, 63, of New Hampton died Friday, February 11, at Saint Joseph Community Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services for Mrs Dowd wil be at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) from Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton, with the pastor, the Rev Bernard Oebser, officiating. Interment will be at the New Hampton Cemetery with Bryan Hauser, Charles Galligan, Reynold Burgart, Rich Kalkbrenner, Edward Katz and Joe Roethler as casket bearers.

Larkin-Martin Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

Mildred Bertha Roehrich was born May 30, 1908, in Jacksonville township, the daughter of Frederick and Ida (Bouska) Roehrich. She attended Chickasaw County Schools and was married to William Joseph Dowd on December 20, 1925 at West Union. They made their home in New Hampton after their marriage and she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Letkey of Antioch, Illinois, Mrs. Yvonne Pitz of New Hampton and Mrs. John (Carol) Farrell of Lawler; one son, William F. Dowd of Gretna, La; 22 grandchildren; and six brothers: Carl of Lawler, William of Fort Dodge, Alfred of New Hampton, Julius of New Hampton, Albert of Knoxville and Otto Roehrich of Oelwein.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Roethler and a son, Gaylord Dowd.

Relatives and friends from Waterloo, Oelwein, Fort Dodge, Calmar, Cedar Rapids, Lawler, Fredericksburg, Lourdes and Gretna, La and Antioch, Illinois, attended the rites.
