Mrs. Bridget A. Kirk passed away at the home of her daughter in New Hampton Saturday morning, at 10 o’clock. She passed her 80th birthday on June 1st of this year. Her death was due to old age. She having been confined to her bed for some time on account of injuries sustained to her hip about four years ago.

The deceased, Ms. Bridget Ann Noon was born June 1, 1853 in Cuba, Lake County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Noon, and came with her parents when two years of age where they located on a farm near where the town of Lawler now stands.

She grew to womanhood in Lawler and in June 1871 was united in marriage with Patrick F. Kirk.

To this union twelve children were born, only four of which survive. The surviving children are: Mrs. Andrew A. Hughes of New Hampton, Mrs. James Beard of Charles City, Mrs. Charles Shepherd and Elmer Kirk, both of Lawler. Her husband and eight children have preceded her to the grave.

Mrs. Kirk was one of those good, kindly mothers. A great woman on earth, as daughter and wife, as mother and relative, as neighbor and friend. There are not many like her and we believe her reward to be rich in the hereafter. All of her children were at her bedside in her last struggle. Besides the children mentioned above, she leaves grandchildren and son-in-laws, all of whom rise to call her blessed.

Mrs. Kirk lived her life at Lawler all of her life with the exception of a few last years she lived with her daughter in New Hampton. She was a devote member of the Catholic Church and practiced it’s teachings throughout her life. She was a member of the Rosary Society since it’s organization in the Lawler parish.

Her funeral was held June 5th, at 9 o’clock from Saint Joseph’s Church in New Hampton. Rev. J. J. Dowling officiated at the service. Burial was made in Mount Carmel cemetery in Lawler. Services at the grave were conducted by Rev. Father Dowling and Rev. J. J. O’Donnell.
