MRS. M. KRUEGER AGE 92, DIES FRIDAY P.M.
FUNERAL HELD MONDAY FROM ST. MARY'S CHURCH

Mrs. Mary Krueger, New Hampton, died at St. Joseph's hospital Friday afternoon at 1:25 o'clock from complications resulting from a broken hip which she sustained at her home Oct. 7. She was 92 years old and a pioneer of Chickasaw county, having lived here for the past 84 years.

Mary Peters was the daughter of Nicholas and Lena Derga Peters and was born Nov. 29, 1866 at Bankston, near Dubuque. When she was a child of eight years, her parents moved to Chickasaw county. Mr. Peters came by team and wagon and his family went as far as Nashua by train and came overland by stagecoach by the way of Chickasaw to New Hampton. They settled on a farm three miles west of town where they lived in a log cabin for about 11 years, later moving to the old Peters homestead five miles southwest of New Hampton.

Deceased received her education in the schools of the community and on April 27, 1898, was married to William Krueger of Shawano, Wis. For a short time the couple lived at Green Bay, Wis., and from there came to new Hampton. Mr. Krueger, a retired railroad man and former police officer, died Sept. 17, 1944.

Mrs. Krueger was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and of the Rosary and Altar Societies.

Surviving are the children, Mrs. Helen Murphy, New London, Wis.; Walter and Edward of New Hampton; Mrs. Edward (Pauline) Greathouse, Alexandria, Va.; Mrs. George (Dorothy) O'Keefe, Rochester, Minn.; Mrs. Auda (El Maretta) Mahan, Grants Pass, Ore.; Mrs. Charles (Rita Mae) Witters, Cedar Rapids; Chief Petty Officer Gerald Krueger, San Francisco, Calif.; also eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Frances Shinstine, Prairie du Chien, Wis.; Mrs. Lena Brannon, Waterloo; Mrs. Teresa Schnurr and Mrs. Roths, both of New Hampton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and a sister, Matt, Charles, Nick and John and Tillie, in infancy.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:30 from St. Mary's church with the pastor, The Rev. J.J. Olinger, officiating at the requiem high mass. The wake was held Sunday evening with the Rosary recited at 8 o'clock. Larkin's Service was in charge.

Interment was in the parish cemetery with V.E. Messersmith, Harold Maas, Harry Carney, Frank Leach, Louis Fliger, Sr., and V.J. Mangan as pallbearers.
