Nick Peters, 89 Died Saturday At Hospital
Funeral Services Tuesday At St. Mary's Church

Nick Peters, 89, died at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at St. Joseph's Hospital where he had been a patient since Thursday. A year ago February he fell and fractured his collar bone and has been in failing health since. Death was attributed to obstruction of the bowel.

The body was taken to the Larkin Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. J.J. Olinger, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery with Walter Hugebach, Nick Laures, Will Lentz, Charles DeBettignies, Tony Heit and Walter Kleinfehn as pallbearers.

Nick Peters, son of Nick and Lena Derga Peters was born on February 8, 1868 in Dubuque county. He attended the rural schools and on November 28, 1884 he was married to Anna Holschlag at New Hampton. They established their home on a farm south of New Hampton until 1941 when they retired and moved to their present home in New Hampton. Mr. Peters was a carpenter and contractor by trade.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. M.W. (Cordelia) Carll of Clarendon Hills, Illinois; six sons, Lawrence T. of Waterloo, Henry N., Fred W., Clarence J., Raymond B. and Elmer A., all of New Hampton; five sisters, Mrs. Lena Brannon of Waterloo, Mrs. Teresa Schnurr, Mrs. Mary Krueger, Mrs. Susan Roths, and Mrs. Frances Shinstine all of New Hampton, 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Mike, Charley and Matt.

Funeral services for Nick Peters, 89, were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church will the Rev. J.J. Olinger officiating.

Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery with Walter Hugeback, Nick Laures, Will Lentz, Charles DeBettignies, Tony Heit and Walter Kleinfehn as pallbearers.

Mr. Peters died at 10:45 p.m. Saturday evening at St. Joseph's Hospital where he had been a patient for three days. A year ago, February, he fell and fractured his collar bone and had been in failing health since. Death was attributed to an obstruction of the bowels.
