Joseph Boellerschen

Suffers Stroke

Died Yesterday

His Sudden Sickness Followed

By Death A Shock To Family

and His Many Friends.

It was with a shock followed by deep mourning that relatives and friends learned of the sudden heart stroke of Joseph Boellerschen, age 72, in his home Thursday at 10:00 o’clock in the forenoon. At first he seemed to rally and improved. On Saturday afternoon he was taken to the hospital and on Monday evening suffered a paralytic stroke which caused his death at 1:45 a.m., Wednesday, October 13. He was about town Wednesday of last weeks, as was his custom. He seemed so well and yet the last call was so near.

The deceased was born August 21, 1865, at New Vienna, Iowa, a son of Peter and Anna M. Daking Boellerschen. At the age of two years he came with his parents to Chickasaw county, locating near North Washington on a farm.

He grew to manhood here and received his education in the parochial school of that community. Except for two years spent in Parkston, South Dakota, this county has been his home.

On November 24, 1885 he was married at North Washington to Miss Mary Rauh and they lived on a farm until March 1911, since when they have made their home in New Hampton.

Five children were born to them, tow sons died at the age of four and five years. Three daughters and their mother survive. They are Mrs. Joseph Heit, Mrs. Nick Brommenschenkel and Mrs. George Klema, all of New Hampton. One sister, Mrs. Michael Zimmer of Stickney, South Dakota, and one brother, Frank Boellerschen, preceded him in death.

Besides his family he leave nine grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Louise Zimmer and Mrs. J. F. Wagner of New Hampton, and Mrs. Kate Nuebel of Parkston, South Dakota.

His funeral will be held at 9:00 o’clock Friday morning from St. Mary’s church in this city and burial will be made in the parish cemetery. Services will be conducted by the pastor, Reverend B.H. Forkenbrock. His pall bearers will be Nels Maas, Reilly Hartson, John Denner, Frank Blocker, John Heit and Matt Weiman.

Joe Boellerschen was a fine man, a good husband, father and friend, and to all those mourning his death we extend sympathy.
