HUGHES - KIRK Marriage

At the Catholic church in Lawler Tuesday, April 18, 1899, Mr. Andrew Hughes and Ms. Nellie Kirk, Rev. Father Garrahan officiating.

The wedding, which was a quiet one, took place at half past seven, after which a wedding breakfast took place at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Kirk. The happy couple took the noon train west for a visit with relatives and friends in the western part of the state.

The bride is one of the most talented and capable young ladies of this county and has for some time ranked high as a teacher in the common schools. Possessing the qualities of a strong intellect in common with the fine sensibilities of the true woman she is in every way fitted to become the light of her husband’s life.

Mr. Hughes is well known here, having for several years been employed by Miller & Kenyon in the bus and dray business, in which he is a trusted and faithful employee.

On their return form the west the young couple will go to housekeeping in their rooms on the first floor of the Gardner house just south of Dr. Malcolm’s.

We wish for them prosperity and happiness in the new relation.
