DR. OLMSTED AND MISS LETA SCHERMERHORN OF WATERLOO MARRIED AT MANCHESTER, IA., WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 1919Word has been received here of the marriage of Dr. Harry Olmsted, of New Hampton, and Miss Leta Schermerhorn, of Waterloo, at Manchester, Iowa, on Tuesday, May 27, 1919. Rev. Dr. Beatty of the Methodist church, officiated. The wedding comes as a pleasant surprise to their many friends in this city.
Dr. Olmsted is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Olmsted, of this city. He attended our local schools and graduated from the New Hampton High School. He afterwards attended the Iowa State College at Ames, from which institution he graduated, after completing the course for veterinarians. He practiced his profession at Greene, Iowa, but gave it up to join the United States army, and was commissioned a lieutenant. He was only recently discharged from the service. He is a fine young man, and his friends in the community are legion.
Mrs. Olmsted, formerly Miss Leta Schermerhorn, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Schermerhorn, 117 Parker Street, Waterloo, Iowa. She has been employed in the millinery department of the James Black department store for some time. She is a stranger to New Hampton people, but she and her husband are assured of a hearty welcome by the people of the city.
It is understood that Dr. Olmsted has purchased a practice at Waukon, where they will reside.
Best wishes for a happy and prosperous future are extended to Dr. and Mrs. Olmsted.
From a newspaper clipping given to me by the bride named above (my grandmother).
