Mrs. Evelyn E. Klatt, 89, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Saturday, July 13, 1996, in Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee.

Funeral services will be held today from the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Klatt was born on April 8, 1907, at Cherokee to John and Harriet (Fletcher) Glasson. She graduated from Wilson High School of Cherokee in 1925. She was married to Howard Klatt on April 13, 1930, at Cherokee. She had worked as a dental assistant for Dr. P. B. Cleaves for several years. She and her husband owned and operated Klatt Hardware Store in Cherokee from 1947 until 1966 when they sold it to Kenneth Lee. She had been a resident of Cherokee all her life and had been residing in the Cherokee Villa and Country Side Estates since 1986. She was a member and deaconess of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, a 50-year member of Carnation Chapter #165 of the Order of Eastern Star, and member of P.E.O.

Survivors include two sons: Robert and his wife Lois, Cedar Falls, Iowa; and Howard and his wife Darlene, Oelwein, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on February 24, 1972, and a brother, Karl Glasson.
