William Paul Grote, age 70, of Sioux City, passed away Friday, October 9, 1998, in a Sioux City hospital after an extended illness. The funeral was held Tuesday, October 13 at the Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, Nebr. A Cremation followed the service.

William Paul Grote was born August 8, 1928, in Lake City, Iowa, son of Frank E. and Amanda M. (Wenck) Grote. He married Opal Rozelle (Reinhardt) Reynolds on February 17, 1973, in Newell, Iowa. Immediately after becoming married, the couple lived in Newell, Iowa. Shortley after, they moved to rural Early, Iowa where they resided until 1979, at which time, they moved to Cherokee. They lived in Cherokee from 1979 to 1985, at which time, they moved to Sioux City, Iowa. He was a truck driver and a farmer. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Opal, a son, Paul William and wife Jeanetta Grote of Sioux City; three daughters, Amanda Louise and husband Carlos Holguin of Sioux City, Lanelle Rose and husband Daniel McAllister of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Lynette Sue and husband Mark Loucks of Sioux City, two brothers, Cicel Grote of Sioux City and Carl Grote of Spokane, Washington and two grandchildren, Molly Nicole McAllister and Anna Jane McAllister.

He was preceded in death by both parents and his mother-in-law, Opal Reinhardt.
