Funeral services for Burnita L. Thevenin, 77, of Aurelia, will be Saturday, October 17, 1998, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, rural Cherokee. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia.
Burnita died of injuries sustained in a traffic accident on Tuesday, October 13, 1998.
Burnita Lydia Heuton was born November 1, 1920, the daughter of William and Ida (Helmkamp) Heuton in Lidderdale, Iowa. She attended country school in the Lidderdale area. On October 11, 1950, Burnita married Merrill J. Thevenin in Lidderdale. They farmed in the Glidden area until 1966, when they moved to the farm south of Aurelia. Burnita was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Christian Women’s Club of Cherokee, and the Embroidery Club. She loved to write letters, spend time with her grandchildren, and work outside on the farm.
Preceding Burnita in death were her parents, her husband, Merrill on October 11, 1993, and one brother, Harold Heuton.
Survivors include two sons, James and Joel and his wife Jan, and two grandchildren, Austin and Shaina Thevenin, all of Aurelia, and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Heuton of Lake City, Iowa, and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
