Gordon Lewis Jones, 47, died July 26 at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital from pancreatic cancer.

Funeral services will be held July 31 from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rembrandt. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee.

He was born on July 17, 1946, Storm Lake to Lewis and Wilma Jones. He attended school and graduated from Albert City – Truesdale High School in 1964.

On Sept. 12, 1970, he was united in marriage to Pamela Heschke of Cherokee. To this union was born two children: Lane Gordon and Jeanna Marie.

Gordon was baptized into the Christian Faith April 2, 1950, at the Methodist Church and at the First Church of Christ July 27, 1970. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Rembrandt. He had held the office of trustee and was a member of the choir.

He entered the Army Reserves Oct. 6, 1966, and served with units in Ft. Dodge and Sac City, until his discharge in 1972.

He lived all his life on the farm. He was a farmer, farming in the Albert City, Rembrandt, Truesdale, and Alta areas. He was a member of the Country Dance Club of Cherokee.

Gordon enjoyed farming in every aspect. If he wasn’t actively farming, he was discussing it with his friends and family. He always had a ready smile and liked a good joke. He valued and enjoyed the fun and fellowship with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

He is survived by his wife Pamela; one son, Lane, of Sheldon; one daughter, Jeanna, at home, his father, Lewis, of Rembrandt; his sister, Dorothy Ann Brummer and husband Robert of Albert City; along with many relatives and friends, young and old, who helped him through the last year.
