THOMAS M. PITTS IS VICTIM OF FLU
Man Born In Cherokee County Dies at LeMars, Iowa

Thomas M. Pitts, residing on East Fifth street, died at the city hospital on Saturday from influenza. He was taken sick a little over a week ago and when his condition became serious was removed to the hospital. His death is the sadder in that he leaves a young wife and six children under seven years of age who were dependent on the work of his hands.

Thomas Melvin Pitts was born on a farm in Cherokee county on July 8, 1891, and received his schooling there and helped his parents on the farm. The family moved to LeMars several years ago and Mr. Pitts worked as a teamster and at other occupations. He was united in marriage seven years ago with Miss Maud Donovan at Sioux City and six children blessed their union. Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his loss his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Pitts, residing on Madison Street; two brothers, William Pitts, on the old farm in Cherokee county and John F. Pitts of LeMars and his two sisters, Mrs. Rachael Duerr of this city and Mrs. Mary Ann Jemps of Cherokee.

The funeral was held yesterday from the Beeley undertaking parlors.
