Barbara E. DeYoung, 85, of Grants Pass, Oregon passed away Thursday, September 3, at 9 p.m. in Grants Pass. She was cremated and a memorial service was held in Grants Pass.

Mrs. DeYoung was born April 16, 1913 on the Nitz farm in Cedar Township, Cherokee County, Iowa to George and Elizabeth (Stanford) Nitz. She attended school in Larrabee, Iowa, graduating in 1929. She married Edward Ott. Later, she married Robert DeYoung. She had lived a number of years in the Long Beach, California area and was a school administrator in the Lakewood school system in California. She retired in Grants Pass.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; a son, George E Ott; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ruth E. Hansen and a brother-in-law, Harry W. Hanson.
