Katherine Byerly, 93, died Thursday morning in Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She had resided in the Cherokee Villa the past eight years, and had been a resident of Cherokee since 1934.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. The Rev. J. Donald Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday.

Katherine Stroud was born April 5, 1894, at Dederick, Mo. She was married to Jess M. Byerly on July 23, 1913, at Nevada, Mo. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband on April 1, 1982, one brother, one sister, two half-brothers and two half-sisters.

She is survived by four sons, Joe Byerly of Cherokee; A.J. (Simmy) Byerly, red Bluff, Calif.; Kenneth Byerly, Cherokee, and Jay Byerly, Kirkland, Wash.; two daughters, Genevieve Day and Mrs. Alex (Louise) Clark, both of Janesville, Wis.; 20 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.
