Rick Waldron Dies In Auto Accident

Richard Waldron, 23, Storm Lake, was killed instantly about 3 a.m. today when his car struck a utility pole north of Storm Lake.

Waldron was to have been married to Shirley Moore of Storm Lake today in St. Mary’s Church.

WAS ALONE
Waldron was driving alone when he apparently went to sleep and his car left the road and struck the pole. The accident happened 7 miles north of Storm Lake at Spooner’s Corner on highway 71, near the junction of Highway 3. The car was demolished.

Waldron is a former resident of Cherokee, where his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Waldron, live at 207 East Cedar.

He has one sister, Mrs. Bill (Melva Ann) Bainbridge who lives in Fountain, Colo.

His grandparents, Mrs. Annie Waldron, and Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Nordstrom, all live in Meriden.

Waldron was born on Nov. 30, 1945 in Cherokee.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Waldron of 207 East Cedar; one sister, Mrs. Bill Bainbridge of Fountain, Colo.; grandparents, Mrs. Annie Waldron, Meriden; and Mr. & Mrs. Arlie Nordstrom, Meriden.

Waldron was a former Cherokee High School football varsity letterman.

Services will be announced later by Boothby Funeral Home.

Richard (Rick) Waldron, 23, Storm Lake, died Saturday at 3 a.m. in an automobile accident.

He had lived in Storm Lake since September 1968. Prior to that he had lived in Cherokee. He was employed by Cough Auto Parts in Storm Lake.

Born Nov. 30, 1945 in Cherokee, he was to have been married to Shirley Moore, Storm Lake today.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Waldron of 207 East Cedar Street, Cherokee; one sister, Mrs. Bill (Melva Ann) Bainbridge, Fountain, Colo.; grandparents, Mrs. Annie Waldron, Meriden, and Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Nordstrom, Meriden; one niece and one nephew.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake with Rev. Richard Sweeney officiating at the Requiem High Mass. Burial followed in the church cemetery there. The Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Monday at Boothby Funeral Home.
