Owner of Repair Shop Here Past 20 Years

The Rev. William W. Vehe, 83, a retired minister, died at 12:45 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chester Steward, 627 Eaclid Avenue, following a year's illness.

The Rev. Vehe for the past 20 years had conducted a genearl repair shop in Cherokee and was located most of the time in the basement of the Rialto theatre building. Failing health forced him to give up the work last August.

Funeral Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home and at 2 o'clock from the Evangelical Reformed church in Brooke township. The Rev. A. Bach will officiate and burial will be in Brooke cemetery. Appleyard & Boothby Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are four children, Mrs. Chester Steward, Cherokee: Mrs. Anna Neisess, Kimball, S.D., Henry Vehe, Hinton, Ia., and Mrs. Emma Greve, Chicago, ILL.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Freda Vehe, Chicago, and a brother, Charles Vehe, Chicago.

The Rev. Vehe was born at Palatine, ILL., September 23, 1855 and came to Iowa in 1897. He was married on Oct. 6, 1878 to Miss Julia Heienfeldt of Germany at Chicago.

Coming to Cherokee March 1, 1908, the pastor, then retired, opened a shop here and was in business continuously until shortly before his death. Mrs. Vehe died three years ago.

The Rev. Vehe took his ministerial study at colleges in Elmhurst, ILL, and at St. Louis, Mo.
