Cherokee Times, Cherokee, Iowa Monday, June 10. 1940

Charles Joseph Guynn, Sr. was born at Foreston, Illinois, June 6, 1874, and came to Cherokee county about fifty years ago. In 1896 he was united in marriage to Julia Agnes McCarthy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel McCarthy. To this union were born five daughters and four sons.

Mr. Guynn passed away May 31 at the Sioux Valley Hospital at the age of 65 years. He is survived by four daughters, Anna Guynn and Mrs, Mary Hahn of Cherokee and Mrs. Nora Walch and Mrs. Ellen Jasman of Sioux City; four son, John, Joseph and William of Cherokee and Charles of Bellefoursche, South Dakota; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Kate Filer of Cherokee and four half-sisters, Winnie, Meryl, Ruth and Pearl of Pleasanton, Kansas and Mrs. Stella Guynn of Pleasanton, Kansas

Funeral services were held from the Immaculate Conception church and burial services from Mount Calvary Cemetery
