William Minehart Gehrts

William Minehart Gehrts, son of Sanke and Minnie Brodersen Gehrts, was born June 4, 1897, at Correctionville and passed away Wednesday, August 11, 1971, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee after suffering a stroke July 17. He was 74 years old. He grew to manhood in the Correctionville area and on March 9, 1921, was united in marriage with Frieda A. Schmeelk at Midway. They farmed in this area a number of years before moving to the Holstein and Correctionville area.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Maurice (Darleen) Johnson of Quimby, Mrs. LaVira Johnson of Storm Lake, and Mrs. Bertram (Norma) Robbins of Cherokee, four brothers, John and Alvin of Forest Grove, Oregon, Ernest of Samby, Oregon, and Walter of Floyd, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Ben (Dora) Hammer of Holstein. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Thomas and Herbert, one sister Alma and one son.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 14, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Donald Johnson officiating. Interment was in Midway Cemetery under direction of Barker Funeral Home.
