Russell J. Blake, 72, the son of John D. and Agnes Scott Blake was born March 9, 1927 in Cherokee Ia. He received his education at Afton Township School number 2 and Aurelia High School graduating in 1944.

On June 3, 1946, he married R. Elaine Werthman. On August 20 1969 he married Peggy Sauer

He was employed by Midwest Breeders as a district mamager for thirty five years. He worked as a real estate agent until his retirement in 1997.He passed away on Wed., March 17, 1999, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 72 years, 8 days.

Russ was an active member of St. Patricks Church in Sheldon, The Knights of Colunbus, Sky High Flyers and many other community clubs and activities. He had a love for flying and held a Private Pilots certificate.

He is survived be his wife Peggy of Sheldon, two daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Bill Michailidis of Sioux Falls, Pam and Grant Mears of Sioux City; five step chikdren; Jeff and his wife, Mary Lynn Sauer of Wayzata Minn. , Byron Sauer of Albuquerque N.M.. Nadine and her husband Greg Morning of Bad-Hamburg Germany, Anita and her Husband Mark Griggs of Famington Mo.,and Mike and his wife, Marilyn Sauer of Prior Lake MN, Seven grandchildren, seven step grandchildren ; two brothers, Rolan Blake and his wife Donna of Odebolt, IA, Donald Blake and his wife Annette of Cherokee IA; Two sisters, Eleanor Anderson of Alta IA. ,and Muriel Hasenwinkel of Cherokee, IA.; also a host of relatives and friends.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents,two brother-in-laws, Wilmer Anderson and Raymond Hasenwinkel.
