Fred Lincoln Blake, son of John D. and Louisa Perkins Blake, was born in Laconia, N.H., August 8 1864, and died at his home in Cherokee June 18, 1945. In June, 1869, he came with his parents to Cherokee county where they homesteaded land in Afton Township and where he lived untill Jan. 1945,when he moved to Cherokee. He attended the local schools and was a student at Simpson College when he was called home on the death of his father to take over the management of the family farm.On June 17, 1890 he married Miss Effie Cannon, the day before his death being their 55th anniversary.

Surviving are his wife; two children, Mrs. Edna Lynch of Omaha, and John D. Blake of Cherokee
, seven grandchildren, Jack and Betty Lynch, Eleanor, Muriel, Rolan, Russell,and Donald Blake and one sister, Mrs. John Scott of Cherokee.

During his active years he took part in all the interests of the community and held offices of trust in the township. Recently he resigned as vice-president of Maple Valley Insurance company having served many years, he was also a member of the I.O.O.F. in Cherokee
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 A.M. on June 21st. conducted by Rev. Trigg of Aurelia. Mrs. Weart played a group of the most cherished hymns at the opening and again at the close of the service.

He was buried in Afton Township Cemetery. Pallbearers were, D.E. Danielson, Melvin Wilson, George Pettengill, J.E. Thompson, Charles Banister and A. Lourey.
