Automobile Head-on Collision Claims Two Lives

Late Saturday evening, April 1, an automobile collision which occurred at the Sutherland corner eight miles south of Primghar, claimed the lives of two young men, Lloyd Allen Jackson, 22, of Marcus, and Howard Wertz, of Beresford, S. Dak., and injured four others.

Lloyd Jackson, of Marcus, driver of one of the cars, was heading west on highways 59 and 10, and crashed head-on with another car at the at the corner which was coming from the opposite direction. Jackson was being rushed to the hospital in Primghar and died in the ambulance enroute. Wertz, the driver of the other car, was also taken to the Ward Memorial hospital here, suffering from sever scalp injuries, from which he never recovered, passing away at approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon of this week.

Riding in the Jackson car were Shirley Endre, of Paullina; Betty Ginger, of Sutherland; and Wayne Simons, of Marcus. They all received injuries which were treated at the hospital here and were released with the exception of Miss Ginger, who is still confined to the hospital.
