MRS. ETHEL HIND
Mrs. Ethel May Hind, daughter of Lois and William S. Pennington, was born in Cherokee county, la., on July 8, 1882. She lived in this community throughout her childhood and youth.
On February 18, 1903 she married Herbert L. Hind, "also of Cherokee county. To this union eight children were born. After their marriage they continued to reside on farms in this locality.
In 1916 they moved to Brookings county, South Dakota in the vicinity of Aurora and there they farmed for about seven years. In 1923 they moved back to Cherokee county, Iowa. From there they moved to farms near Chandler and Casenovia in Minnesota. Later they moved to a farm in the Lake Benton vicinity. In September 1948 they retired from active farming and moved into Lake Benton and this has been their home since.
Throughout most of her life Mrs. Hind enjoyed good health. For the past one and a half years her health has been impaired. She passed quietly away on Thursday morning at 3:30 o'clock, having reached the age of 67 years, 3 months and 12 days.
Surviving are her husband, Herbert; six sons and two daughters, Lois (Mrs. D. Warrender) of Quimby, Willis of Currie, Minn., Alva of Walnut Grove, Minn., Lawrence of Woonsocket, S. D., Paul of Sherman, S. D., Harold, now serving in the Navy presumably somewhere near Italy, Bernice (Mrs. James Mortland) and Virgil both of Lake Benton Minn. There are also 16 grandchildren, 2 sisters, two brothers and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Hind was a lover of flowers. She also enjoyed music and the singing of the old hymns. She received much pleasure from the piecing of quilts. No matter how many birthdays were recorded in the family among relatives and friends, Mrs. Hind always found time to send them a friendly greeting or remember them in some way. She was a devoted wife and mother. Mr. and Mrs. Hind enjoyed nearly 47 years of married life together sharing mutually life's joys and sorrows. Loved ones and many friends will mourn her passing.
Services were held at Lake Benton, Minn., by the Rev. George E. Hamilton of the Methodist church at 9:00 Saturday morning. Services were held, in Quimby Methodist church at 2:00_p.m., Saturday with the Rev. Hamilton and the Rev. Ros-coe C. Jerrell conducting. Burial was in. the Quimby cemetery.
