Mary Glover, 61, of Cherokee, Iowa, died Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center at Cherokee.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at Immaculate Conception Church in Cherokee, IA. Father Paul-Lewis Arts will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cherokee. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Monday with the family present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Monday night at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a 7:00 P.M. prayer services on Monday night at Greenwood Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.greenwoodfuneral.com.
Mary Ann Glover, the daughter of Harry and Anna Mae (Davis) Kirchner was born December 31, 1947, in Mapleton, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Mapleton where she went to school. At age 15, her family moved to Correctionville, Iowa and then to Quimby, Iowa. Mary graduated from Willow High School in 1966.
After graduation, Mary worked in Storm Lake, IA at a turkey plant. On January 3, 1970, she was united in marriage to Harold “Butch” Glover Sr. in Quimby, Iowa. Following their marriage, they made their home in Quimby and she stayed at home raising their family. The couple moved to Cherokee, Iowa in 1987. Mary worked for KFC, a clothing store, the Barrel, Hy-Vee, Mr. V’s, the Cherokee Villa, and the Cherokee Hospital.
Mary was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Cherokee. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, playing with her cat Harley, and dogs Dutch and Herbie. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers, but most of all she loved being with her family.
On October 9, 2009, Mary passed away at Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee at the age of 61. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Anna Mae Kirchner; and her father-in-law, Ralph Glover.
She is survived by her husband Harold Glover Sr., of Cherokee, IA; two sons: Harold Glover Jr. and special friend Tammy of Cherokee, IA, and Dana Glover of Cherokee, IA; four brothers: Tommy Kirchner of Cherokee, IA, Randy (Shirley) Kirchner of Quimby, IA, Bob (Sandy) Kirchner of Cherokee, IA, and Merle Kirchner of Cherokee, IA; two aunts, Mrs. “Dale” Effie Riordan of Pierson, IA, and “Merle” Joyce Davis of Mapleton, IA; three nieces: Stacy Heinen of Cedar Rapids, IA, Ninya Kirchner of Cherokee, IA, and Kelly Heinen of Ft. Dodge, IA; mother-in-law, Marcella Glover of Cherokee, IA; four nephews: Nick Kirchner of Quimby, IA, David Kirchner of Quimby, IA, Chris Kirchner of Holstein, IA, and Jason Gagnon of Falls River Massachusetts; two brother-in-laws: Raymond Glover of Cherokee, IA, and Chuck (Ingred) Glover of Germany; two sister-in-laws: Jean (Ed) Heinen of Cherokee, IA, and Mary Ann (Richard) Gagnon of Falls River, Massachusetts; two cousins: Tony (Sandy) Davis of Mapleton, IA, and Steve (Lorraine) Davis of Mapleton, IA; as well as other relatives and friends.
