Delbert M. Crocker, 91, of Cherokee, Iowa, died Saturday August 22, 2009 in Countryside Estates, Cherokee, Iowa, following a brief illness.
Del’s body will be cremated and there will be no visitation or service. Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa is in charge of arrangements. On-line condolences may be sent to greenwoodfuneral.com
Delbert M. Crocker was born April 8, 1918 in rural Cherokee, Iowa, to Frank and Pearl (Coburn) Crocker. He attended school in Cherokee, Iowa, graduating from Wilson High School in 1937. On August 31, 1940 he married Beulah Williams in Wayne, Nebraska.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Del worked for Schmidt Furniture in Cherokee, Iowa, until his retirement in 1984.
He enjoyed traveling, reading, and going for walks.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Rhonda Christensen, of Manilla, Iowa; a grandson, Chad Christensen, and his wife, Dawn, of Grimes, Iowa; granddaughter, Beth Lyddon, and her husband, Jeremy, also of Grimes, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Katie Christensen, Mya Christensen, and Addison Lyddon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters, a son-in-law (Dennis Christensen
