Evelyn C. Bierman, 83, of Holstein, a former Cherokee resident, passed away on March 17, 2009 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Memorial services were held on March 21 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, with Pastor Larry Lemke officiating. Burial was at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee was in charge of the arrangements. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Evelyn was born July 8, 1925 in LeMars, the daughter of Herman and Emma (Borm) Erichsen. She was married to Donald Bierman on Jan. 3, 1949 at Remsen, and they lived most of their life on a farm south of Remsen until retiring and moving to Cherokee in 1978. Evelyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Dorcas Circle, and a Friendship Club. She also enjoyed needlepoint, embroidery, traveling and fishing.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald, on Feb. 7, 200;, one brother, Elmer Erichsen, and a brother-in-law, Wesley Bierman.

She is survived by her two daughters, Janice Heller of Kirkland, Wash. and Judy Ehler and her husband David of Holstein; four grandchildren, Alan Heller of Kirkland, Wash.; Eric Ehler of San Francisco, Calif.; Shawn Regennitter and her husband Brian of Rome, Ga.and Sara Ehler of Seattle, Wash.; two great grandchildren, Tanner Regennitter and Bebe Ehler; two sisters-in-law, Vivianne Erichsen of Remsen and Marian Bierman of Pierson;and many nieces and one nephew.
