Barbara Ann Campbell, 80, of Cherokee, died Dec. 26, 2008 at her home, following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services were held on Dec. 31, 2008 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, with Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cherokee.

Barb was born Nov. 5, 1928 in Macon, Ga. to Oral F. and Maybelle (Reid) Cook. She was educated and graduated from high school in Gray, Georgia. Following graduation she worked as a telephone operator for several years in Georgia before moving to Cherokee, where she also worked as a telephone operator.

On Nov. 7, 1949, Barb married Donald Campbell in Cherokee. Barb was owner and operator of "House of Yours," a consignment shop in Cherokee for nearly 30 years. Barb enjoyed antiquing, politics, gardening, doll collecting, reading poetry, going to and participating in area "rendezvous,' and berry picking.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband Donald; her sons, Chris Campbell of Minneapolis, Minn., Mark Campbell and his wife, Jane of Cherokee, and Jeff Campbell and his wife, Janet, of Niles, Ohio; three daughters, Cathy Blankenbaker and her husband, David, of Tucson, Ariz., Molly Campbell of Marion, Ill., and Sara Lang and her husband Chad of Sheldon; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
