Jim Montgomery, 94, of Wahpeton, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008, at his home in Wahpeton. A funeral service was held June 9 at the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Burial was at the Cedar Township Cemetery in Larrabee.

Jim was born on Nov. 10, 1913, in Larrabee, to Henry and Loveday Montgomery.

He graduated from Cherokee High School in 1931, and the University of Iowa in 1935. Jim was united in marriage to Dolores Niblick on Dec. 26, 1939, in Cherokee. Jim and Dolores lived on a farm near Larrabee, until Jim retired in 1978. Jim was a cattle feeder and farmer

Jim was a member of the Larrabee Community School Board, the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors, and the Wahpeton City Council. He was also a long - time member of the Board of Directors of Cherokee State Bank, the CML Telephone Coop Board, and the Larrabee Coop Elevator. Jim was an elder in the Presbyterian Church of Cherokee and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dolores; and a sister.

Jim is survived by a daughter, Ann Barry, and her husband, Rick, of Wahpeton; three sons, Jack Montgomery and his wife Mary Ann, of Larrabee; Dick Montgomery and his wife, Mary Jean of Spencer; and Tim Montgomery, and his wife Kim, of Edina, Minn.; eleven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
