Lois L. Bridgett 83, of Quimby passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center.

Funeral services held today on March 3 at the Quimby United Methodist Church, with Rev. Carolyn Hollar officiating. Burial was in the Quimby Cemetery.

Lois Vinson was born March 18, 1924 in McIntyre, Georgia to James T. and Cora Pearl (Smith) Vinson.

She graduated from high school in 1942. She was married to Donald L. Bridgett on April 27, 1946 at Milledgeville, Ga. She had lived in Quimby since 1947 and entered the Cherokee Villa in July of 2007. Lois worked at the F & N Cafe in Quimby and was also a Nurse's Aide at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee from 1965 until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the Quimby United Methodist Church.

Lois was a very patient lady and developed a special relationship with the employees and residents of the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center. She enjoyed her time spent with her grandchildren. Lois was such a caring mother and was loved and respected by her family. She will be greatly missed by all who cared for and knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald on July 9, 1987, a grandson Jeffery King in 1976, and one brother Otis Vinson.

She is survived by two daughters: Sandra King and her husband Roger of Quimby; Debra Witcombe and her husband Michael of Cherokee; three grandchildren: Bridget Conley and her special friend Chase Pipkins; Britten King and Michele Witcombe; three great grandchildren Colton, Alyssa and Madonna; two brothers and one sister: Rev. Robert Vinson and his wife Greta of Macon, Ga.; Marvin Vinson of Milledgeville, Ga.; Shirley Tollison and her husband Hal of Stevens Pottery, Ga.; a special family friend Chuck Conley; also several nieces and special cousins Russell and Katie Brown and their family
