Funeral services for Elsie Steffens, 93, of Aurelia will be Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 at 10:30 a.m.. at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Harold Werley officiating.A memorial fund has been established.
Elsie Ione Garner was born June 17, 1914, the daughter of William and Florence (Buford) Garner, near Kingsland , Ark., She attended country schools. On Nov. 9, 1935 she married William Royce Steffens in Fordyce, Ark. , after which they moved to Aurelia and made their home. They owned and operated Steffen Plumbing And Heating. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and playing cards.
Elsie died Wed. Nov. 7, 2007 at the Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab Center in Aurelia where she had been a resident since June 22, 2007.
Survivors are, her 3 sons; Artie and his wife Jeanette of Tacoma, Wash., Don and his wife Bonnie of Waukon, Ia. and Ron and his wife Eileen of Cummings Ga. 12 grandchildren, Adam Steffens, Renee and her husband John Deney, Jackie Steffens, Katie and her husband , Larry Schwartzhoff, Betsy and husband Chris Lonning, Neil and his wife Jeana Steffens, Hugh and his wife Nicole Steffens, Alex Steffens, Aaron and his wife Jennifer Steffens, Mathew Steffens, Rebeca and husband Ryan Hodge , and Sara and husband Wayne Walter, and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 1 sister, Dorine Reaves of Warren , Ark. 1 brother, Glen and his wife Hallie Garner of Dallas tex. 1 brother-in-law, Lynn Steffens, and many nieces and nephews and friends.
