Max Carl Ammons, 82, of Springfield Mo. died Friday, Oct. 26, at the Stratford Care Center in Stratford, Mo.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Gorman - Sharph Funeral Home in Springfield , with the Rev. Jess Gibson officiating.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia, Ia.

He was born Feb, 15, 1925, in Aurelia to Carl and Viola Ammons.

He was united in marriage to Hazel J. Wilson on June 25, 1947, in Tacoma, Wash.. He was a U.S. Army veteran. he spent many years in the automobile sales and farming. . He retired with more than 20 years in security at Wilson Foods in Cherokee, Ia. After many years he moved to Springfield in 1987 to be closer to his family and a warmer climate.

He was a past member of the Aurelia Methodist Church and a current member of the Cornerstone Church in Springfield.

He is survived by his wife, A daughter and her husband , Sheila and Ron Steffes of Springfield; a son and his wife , Mark and Debby Ammons of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Tracy and Constance Ammons of Summerville, S.C. sister and her husband Joyce and Jerry Rohrbaugh of Springfield; a granddaughter and her husband, Jennifer and Joe Passanise, of Springfield; a granddaughter and her husband , Amimee and Jim Labrie of Kansas City Mo.; a granddaughter , Molly Steffes, of Sierra Vista, Ariz. a granddaughter and her husband, Tricia and Sean Monahan, of Glenwwod, Ia. a granddaughter and her husband, Kristan and Patrick Murphy of Springfield ; a grandson, Logan Ammons and Granddaughter, Ester Ammons, both of Summerville, S.C.; 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces , nephews and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
