Word has been received here of the death of a former Cherokee resident, David H. Dillon, almost 71, who died Saturday at New Smyrna Beach where he had lived since retiring from Illinois Central Railroad as a conductor.

He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of Speculative Lodge No. 307, AF & AM.

He is survived by the widow, Dorothy of New Smyrna Beach; a daughter, Mrs.John (Mary Ann) Lowe of Mobridge, SD., and a son David Dillon of Denver; and eight grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Ella Sibeck of Oklahoma City, Okla., also survives.

Funeral services were Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Boothby Funeral Home and burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
