DONN WILLIAM KISCHER

Donn William Kischer, 76, of Quimby, Iowa died Thursday June 28, 2007 in the Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be held Monday July 2, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Bob Stouts will officiate. Burial will be in the Silver Township Cemetery, Quimby, Iowa. Visitation will be Sunday from 11:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home, with the family present from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Online condolences may be left at www.greenwoodfuneral.com.

Donn was born October 29, 1930 in Boone, Iowa, to W.H. and Signe (Bodholdt) Kischer. He attended school and graduated from high school in Newell, Iowa. He worked with his father for a few years in livestock purchasing, before taking a job with Hy-Grade Packing as a hog buyer, retiring in 1994. On June 11, 1950 he married Virginia Smith at the Loon Lake Baptist Church in Jackson County, Minnesota. They have lived near Quimby since 1958. Donn was a Cub Scout Master in Quimby, Iowa for many years. He coached various Little League teams and was recognized by then Gov. Robert Ray for his volunteerism and coaching efforts. Donn also helped to start the Town and Country Club in Quimby. Donn enjoyed deer, elk, and pheasant hunting, and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, daughters, Rosalynn Larson, and her husband, Joel, of Alta, Iowa; Donna Sargent, and her husband, Terry, of Quimby, Iowa; sons, Frederick Kischer, and his special friend, Susan Glouser, of Cherokee, Iowa; Walter “George” Kischer, and his wife, Lynda, of Sac City, Iowa; sister, Genise Minden, and her husband, Arlo, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; grandchildren, Amy Meyer, and her husband, James; Chad Larson, and his wife, Cynthia; Jessica Larson, and her special friend, Terry Williams; Luke Larson; Joelynn Stevens, and her husband, Michael; Rachel Buffington, and her husband, Russell; Beth Sargent, and her special friend, Brennan Weede; Gail Morgan; Ruth Ann Sargent, and her special friend, Michael Grage; Alyn Sargent; Benjamin Kischer, and his wife, Lacy; Tanner Kischer; Jala Kischer; 21 great-grandchildren
