Larry Steemke, 61, of Aurelia, died Friday, June 1, 2007, after suffering a stroke at his Aurelia farm the previous Monday night. Memorial services were held Tuesday June 5, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Harold Werley officiating.

There was no visitation. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials will be given to the Aurelia Volunteer Fire and Rescue.

Larry David Steemke was born July 25, 1945, the son of Loren and Arline (Minard) Steemke in Cherokee. He graduated from Willow High School in Quimby in 1963 and from UCLA in 1968. He served in the Army in Vietnam. On July 15, 1977, he married Susan Cramer in Torrance, Calif. He worked as a CPA in Palos Verdes, Calif. and farmed in Aurelia.

Preceding him in death was his brother, Ronnie Steemke 1953.

Survivors are Susan, children David Steemke of Grand Forks, N.D., and Kelly Wallace of San Diego, Calif., and stepson Kevin Smith of Valley Springs, Calif.; parents, Loren and Arline Steemke and brother Don and his wife Lisa Steemke all of Aurelia, and other relatives and friends.
